My name is Miss Marisa Tasky! I am a current first grade teacher at a private Catholic school, Our Lady of Sorrows, in Farmington Hills, MI. I currently live in Clawson, MI. I grew up in Farmington Hills, MI, and attended elementary and middle school at Our Lady of Sorrows School. Later, I attended Mercy High School in Farmington Hills. After, I moved to East Lansing, MI, where I attended Michigan State University, and I received my bachelor of Arts in Education. Currently, I am working on my Masters of Arts in Education (MAED) from Michigan State University. Go Green!
My hobbies include reading, kayaking, travelling, cross-stitching, skiing, golfing, playing softball, and enjoying life with friends and family. I am still a huge fan of Michigan State sports, particularly men's basketball and football, and I enjoy grabbing drinks with family and friends to watch every game! I also enjoy spending my summers with my family up north in a small town called Onekama, MI. During the school year, I tutor students during after school hours.
I have been lucky enough to work alongside some of my best friends - ones I have met on the job and ones I have known prior to my job. My current school provides 8th graders a chance to go to Washington D.C. during their final days of middle school. One of my friends, who is an amazing 8th grade history teacher, organized this trip. I was able to experience this trip for the first time since I was a student, alongside some of the greatest coworkers in May 2022!
About Miss Marisa Tasky
I grew up in Farmington Hills, MI, where I attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School from kindergarten through 8th grade. Later, I attended Mercy High School, in Farmington Hills, MI. After, I attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI, from 2014-2019. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education with a focus in integrated science. Finally, I completed my Master of Arts in Education with a focus in literacy education from Michigan State in 2022. I currently live in Clawson, MI, near friends and family. I have taught first grade at Our Lady of Sorrows for three wonderful years since graduating from MSU.
My main hobbies include reading, kayaking, cross-stitching, skiing, golfing, and travelling. I also enjoy playing in softball and kickball recreational leagues through Oak Park, MI. My love of travelling has taken me to Scotland, Ireland, South Africa, Mexico, and many places throughout the USA. My two degrees from MSU and my love of sports has led me to become an intense MSU fan, especially men's football and basketball (Go Green!). I enjoy watching all MSU and Detroit sports games with family and friends.
I consider myself extremely blessed because of my amazing and supportive family and friends. As an only child, I have become extremely close with my parents, who live a few miles away from school. I enjoy stopping at home after work for a home cooked meal. I am also lucky to work with friends who I have known for years. Recently, I chaperoned OLS's 8th grade Washington D.C. trip with one of my best friends. My friends I have known for years, and my friends I have made through work are a huge part of my life and a wonderful support system.
